Cosa è "Star Wars: The Old Republic"?

Star Wars: The Old Republicrappresenta un nuovo approccio all'intrattenimento online, attraverso l'uso di una narrazione intensiva, combattimenti dinamici, e prorompenti compagni. Il gioco ha luogo nella galassia di Star Wars, approssimativamente 300 anni dopo gli eventi narrati in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (K.O.T.O.R.).


Si tratta di un MMO (massive Multiplayer online)?

Si, Star Wars: The Old Republic è un MMO,cioèr “massively multiplayer online-game”. Star Wars: The Old Republic permetterà a migliaia di giocatori di esplorare, vivere avventure, e combattere, nello stesso tempo.
Volendo essere corretti, si tratta di un vero MMO-RPG (MMO basato su Role Play Game) poichè, essendo molto narrativo ed avendo trame ed ambientazioni studiate alla perfezione, rappresenta proprio un esempio di vero RPG (nel senso letterario del termine)



E' possibile giocare da soli? (single player)

Anche se esistono dei compiti che non possono essere portati a termine senza la cooperazione con gli altri giocatori, la maggior parte del gioco può essere computa giocando soli.
Questo è il punto che maggiormente crea panico tra gli appassionati. Nonè ancora completamente chiaro, comunque pare che le missioni saranno sostanzialmente single-player, con la possibilità di scegliere di cooperare con giocatori oppure con personaggi AI. Qualcosa di simile alle missioni di "GuildWars".
Infne, non è chiaro se sia possibile completare almeno parte delle missioni, giocando OFFLINE, anche se la cosa è improbabile.

Sarà possibile viaggiare tra i vari mondi?

Yes, you will be able to travel to many of the planets featured in the Star Wars movies and in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. There will also be a number of new planets and star systems to explore.
Da determinare ancora quale sarà il metodo di viaggio. Probabilmnte attraverso una astronave, da uno spazioporto, selezionando una destinazione. Non è noto se il viaggio abbia costi o tempi istantanei/prolungati.
E' anche probabile che ci siano dei sistemi di trasporto internamente ai singoli pianeti, per raggiungere differenti zone e città.


Sarà possibile giocare il "Light or Dark side" della forza?

Yes, during character selection you will align with the Republic or the Sith Empire. In addition, throughout the game you will also be faced with many decisions which can change your path down the Light or Dark side of the Force.
Probabilmente l'allineamento Light/Dark non sarà semplicemente estetico - narrativo, ma permetterà di sbloccare alcune abilità e ne inibirà delle altre.



Quando ha luogo Star Wars: The Old Republic in relazione ai film?

Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place more than 3,500 years before the rise of Darth Vader. The most powerful Sith Empire in history has emerged from deep space to attack the Republic and its legendary Jedi guardians. After decades of war, a tenuous truce has been established between the Sith Empire and the Republic, but events occurring in the game are leading the galaxy back to an all-out war.



How does Star Wars: The Old Republic relate to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic?

Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place approximately three hundred years after the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). At the conclusion of the Jedi Civil War in KOTOR, Revan disappeared into unknown space in search of a great threat to the Republic, an expanding Sith Empire led by a mysterious Emperor who planned vengeance for his ancient Jedi enemies. Revan never returned from unknown space, but the Sith Empire did, kicking off a war with the Republic that lasted for decades. Now, despite the uneasy truce created by the Treaty of Coruscant, the tension among the divided star systems is threatening to once again tear the galaxy apart.



Sarà possibile vedere ed incontrare personaggi di S.W. : K.O.T.O.R. ?

Given that it is approximately 300 years since the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, many of the characters have passed away. However, their legacy does live on as many of their descendants will be part of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Some droids can last a long time as well.

Come ci si segna per la fase di Beta-Testing?

We have not yet scheduled the Beta Test for Star Wars: The Old Republic. We recommend subscribing to the newsletter or keeping an eye on the official website so you can be one of the first informed when this information is released.
La fase di Beta testing è in fase di reclutamento. La fase di gioco sarà tuttavia suddivisa in più parti. Solo pochi giocatori saranno selezionati per il testing e generalmente, ogni giocatore convocato potrà partecipare ad una sola delle fasi di testing. I requisiti per accedere, ovviamente non sono noti. Iscrivendosi, vengono analizzati i dati hardware e softwre del computer. La scelta quindi ricadrà su questi. Probabilmente verranno scelti utenti con differenti versioni di Windows, nonchè la più possibile ampia varietà di schede video, nuove, ma anche datate, per verificarne problemi di visualizzazione. Purtroppo non c'è modo di sapere quali requisiti sono più richiesti. Il consiglio è di iscriversi comunque. Tentare, qui, non costa nulla.

Si ritiene probabile il pagamento di un abonamento a tempo (diffuso in molti MMO).
Una possibile strada alternativa è lacreazione di account base gratuiti ed account "Premium" a pagamento, ricevendo per questi secondi, alcuni vantaggi in gioco, che si spera siano solo "estetici" e non funzionali.

Quali sono i requisiti di sistema per giocare a Star Wars: The Old Republic?

While we don’t have the minimum system requirements available just yet, the goal is to make the game playable on most PCs.
Da ciò che è trapelato, il gioco non sarà terrbilmente pesante in grafica, come è spesso d'uso negli MMO. Quindi non dovrebbe servire un pc particolarmene nuovo o performante.
Naturalmente avere la DirectX10 (Windows Vista e Windows 7) aiuterà la qualità grafica.
